Jol Rose is a Swindon-based singer-songwriter. With roots in London, Jol has performed his raw mix of Americana acoustic folk on moving trains, stationary flat-bed trucks and remote Pacific islands.
His debut album My Nebraska (2019), recorded and released in Swindon’s Earthworm Studios, mixed stateside influences with desolation and doubt from much closer to home.
2020 saw the release of Jol’s home-recorded, self-produced Welcome to Zombieland. Mixing fake news with the winged facts flying past the box room, captured by the condenser microphone, dystopia and fallen dreams come home to roost.
Peace Love Americana was Jol’s third album, featuring Rachael Birkin on fiddle (she appears on all three albums, and often live too), award-winning UK pedal steel player Holly Carter, fab keyboardist Jon Buckett (also on all three biscuits) plus – for the first time – wonderful Lewis Lord-Jenkins on drums, Drew Di Fiore on bass, and old friend Jason Serious on harmony vocals.
There have been four tours supporting albums and making new friends – three criss-crossing around Germany (and a bit of Holland), one along England’s south coast. Through the lockdowns and across all sorts of social distances, the Corsa has done us proud.
